I lost a dear friend this week. Others lost their son, their husband, their father, their brother.

I’m sad. My heart is heavy.

I’m reflecting on on our overlapping lives; the laughter and fun and silliness, crushes and heartbreak, the fireworks and wheelies and guitars, cassete tapes and yearbooks. I’m thinking about the struggles we survived and the worries that kept us awake at night, and finally, the despair when there was nothing left to be done.

I don’t know what to do now except remember, try to hold onto the memories and celebrate the time we had together.
